Roberto Clemente: MLB HOFer, Patriot Humantaian, and Family Man
In 1960 the Pittsburgh Pirates won the National League Pennant . Shortly. thereafter, Dick Groat was named, the National League MVP
Clemente was upset that he was not chosen, believing he was not chosen because of his race.
Many, including myself,, felt the same.
Why has this man's number. not been retired by MLB.
I, must ask the question, is his race behind the decision not to do so?
He. Is a MLB Hall of Famer.
He is a Patriot. having served in the USMC Reserves
He is a family man.
He is a Humanitarian, having lost his life trying to deliver supplies to a devasted county severely damaged by a natural disaster.
So, why has his number not been retired by MLB?
Is it the color of his skin?

Need A Place To Stay In Pittsburgh
I had planned this trip to Pittsburgh to watch the Pirates for some time, but had failed to make reservations with the Choice Hotels; I belong to Choice Hotels It's free to join.
So. I logged onto Choice Hotels @www.ChoiceHotels.com with my only requirement being a room priced less than $100USD and found a number of them at EconoLodge
I chose the one at 1303 Clairton Blvd., Jefferson Hills, PA 15025
Telephone #412-384-5811/fax412-714-4798.
I hit the jackpot!
Now, I haven't been too impressed with the EconoLodges in the past
But, this one is the Gold Standard!
Clean Rooms, Plenty of Free Parking, Close to Denny's, Sheetz, Super Wal-Mart, and Plenty of other shopping venues; and, it was only a 30 minute drive to PNC Stadium
If that wasn't good enough, I met two interesting and friendly people that I plan on keeping in contact with.
One, a female truck driver from Nashville. TN, and the other, a hard-charging, twenty-three year old, workaholic from Oklahoma. Named Tanner.
Tanner stated, I have stayed here eight times in two years and always found the rooms clean and the owners friendly
Enough with the verbage, here are the photos:
